Drought Scenario Planning Workshop – North Central Region Water Network

March 15, 2021 @ 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm

The virtual workshop will introduce you to their interactive project website Collaborative Drought Planning Using Scenario Exercises and will give attendees an opportunity to learn more about the website and use the interactive resources that are part of it.

Recent droughts across the North Central Region mean that many communities are looking for ways to prepare for and respond to the negative effects of drought. The project website is intended to help Extension, planning, and community development specialists engage communities in discussions of building drought resilience using scenario-based exercises. Specifically, it:

  • Discusses the importance of drought planning;
  • Explains how scenario exercises can help engage community members in the planning process;
  • Provides resources and worksheets to help select and plan drought scenario exercises; and
  • Includes case studies based on the experiences of other communities and organizations.

The virtual workshop will be held on Monday, March 15th from 1:00 pm to 3:00 or 4:00 pm CST (final time TBD soon) and is intended for extension educators in community development and natural resources. It will give folks the opportunity to see the newly developed interactive drought scenario-based exercises website, use portions of the website to help plan a mock exercise, and provide feedback on the usability of the site.
