Iowa’s source waters are under ever-increasing stress due to climate change, land use demands, and various contaminants. As water professionals and community members, we all play a part in protecting our source waters. Creating a resilient water cycle is critical and relies on a systems approach, recognizing the connection between water, soil, and all living things (including you!) This year’s theme, “Life Depends on Water. Water Depends on You,” emphasizes this interconnectedness.
The 18th annual Iowa Water Conference will be held on September 10-11, 2024, at the Hyatt Regency and Conference Center in Coralville, Iowa.
The Iowa Water Conference and our conference planning partners invite individuals and groups to submit conference abstracts addressing how individuals and communities evaluate and protect Iowa’s precious natural water sources.
Following are focus areas related to Iowa’s Source Waters:
- 2024 special focus: Surface Waters
- 2024 special focus: Groundwater
- 2024 special focus: Water Reuse
- 2024 special focus: Water is Life – Health Impacts

Have an idea for a tour?
If you are interested in hosting a pre-conference tour on September 9th, please complete this application by April 1, 2024. Tours should highlight water-related projects, practices, or facilities in the Coralville, Iowa immediate area.
A final tour decision will be selected from the applications by April 15, 2024.
