SUMMARY:Iowa Learning Farms Webinar: Online Conservation Communities Encouraging Conservation Learning
DESCRIPTION:The Iowa Learning Farms (ILF) conservation webinar taking place May 24 at noon CDT will feature Jenny Seifert\, watershed outreach specialist\, University of Wisconsin-Madison Division of Extension. Seifert’s expertise in environmental communications\, behavior change\, and facilitation aids in her efforts leading multi-state projects to build leadership capacity and cultivate community among conservation professionals and farmers. These projects help increase participant’s success at meeting soil and water conservation goals. \n  \n \n  \nIn the webinar\, “How Two Online Communities Are Facilitating Peer Learning about Conservation\,” Seifert will provide an introduction to online communities that facilitate learning among farmers and conservation professionals to improve soil and water conservation outcomes. Highlighting the programs\, One Good Idea and The Confluence for Watershed Leaders\, she will provide examples of how these online groups work to encourage and build conservation leadership. Siefert will also offer information on participating in these virtual groups. \n“Online communities provide an answer to the ongoing thirst for connection\, a hunger for learning what works and doesn’t work\, and a distaste for reinventing the wheel\, commonly found among conservation professionals and engaged farmers\,” said Seifert. “One Good Idea and The Confluence were designed to enable more on-the-ground successes through helping these stakeholders connect and learn from each other.
